Davie Student Union

The Davie Student Union is the center of campus life; it is a student-oriented 20,000 square-foot facility that houses a variety of programs and services. For more information about the Davie Student Union, call 954-236-1332 or stop by the front desk, located in the Oasis Lounge.

Space Reservations

All reservations should be submitted at least 10 business days in advance to allow time for the Union staff to assist you with your needs.

Group Study

Located on the second floor of the Davie Student Union are two state of the art group study spaces, where FAU students can connect their laptops wirelessly to the projector screens. Both PC (Windows) and Macs are accommodated. For more information or to learn how to connect:

Oasis Lounge - SD Lobby
Oasis Lounge

The Oasis Lounge is located directly inside the main entrance of the Student Union (on the eastern side, facing the ES & Liberal Arts buildings). Ask the Student Assistant at the Front Desk if you need assistance with anything.

Also available in the Oasis Lounge:

  • Free coffee for students, with hot water option for tea
  • Free scantrons at the front desk with Owl Card (limit 3/day) (omit BSG reception)
  • Study Rooms (two hour limit)
  • Plasma televisions to catch up on the latest cable news
  • Comfortable couches for relaxing or study
  • Ping pong, & board games available with Owl Card
  • Laptops, calculators and chargers can be borrowed with use of Owl Card

Heritage Hall - SD 105
This 2000 square foot multipurpose room hosts the majority of the Student Union's events, with the latest audio/visual equipment and an airwall that can divide the room in two.
Computer Lounge - SD 101F
The Student Union’s Computer Lounge contains ten Dell computers and four Mac computers. Printing is available by accessing the rneng.net/print portal. Contact the Student Union staff for assistance or visit the Computing Services' Help Desk.

The Owl card has several different uses, including identification, library card, print card, on-campus debit card and will be needed to gain access to events, study rooms, and game equipment.

To obtain one, you’ll need to present a picture ID. All students are required to have a card. The Owl Card Center is located on the second floor of the Union. Our Owl Card Center also acts as the Broward Campuses' Business Services center, so stop by for assistance with parking or to inquire about a refund on campus vending/copy machines

What is the Student Union?
The Student Union is both a student-centered organization and a building. It is the center for community and leadership on campus. The FAU Davie Student Union provides an on-campus home for students, faculty, staff, and guests who seek cultural, social, business, educational, and recreational experiences in an environment committed to excellent service.
What is SD?
"SD" is the FAU code for the SD Building, also known as the Davie Student Union. If you would like to study in SD 204 or would like to attend an activity in SD 105, those events are held in the Student Union on the Davie Campus.
Where can I find a free scantron?
Inquire with the Student Union Front Desk, located in the Oasis Lounge (1st floor lobby) or the Broward Student Government Reception area (in the 2nd Floor Lobby).
Is the coffee really free for FAU students?
Yes. The coffee is paid for with your Student Activity & Service (A&S) fee.
How can I play a board game or use a laptop?

How can I reserve a study room?
The first floor Oasis Lounge study rooms require you to sign in at the front desk with your Owl Card. These rooms are first come, first serve, and the time limit on the room is 2 hours. If no students are waiting for a room you may re-sign in for another 3 hours. As always, if you have any problems, please contact the Operations Manager at the Front Desk, and he or she will assist you.
Where can I find out about events?

There are many ways to learn about activities at the Davie Student Union, such as the following:

  • View online: Broward campus only | All Events
  • For Student Union events visit the bulletin board right outside of SD 105/Heritage Hall.
  • A monitor in the Oasis Lounge runs a loop of announcements/events and is updated weekly.
  • Broward Student Government executive agencies, Program Board, Students Advocating Volunteer Involvement, House of Representatives, Counsel of Student Organizations, have bulletin boards on the first floor.
  • Stop by the Student Involvement and Leadership office in SD 203 for more information.

How can I work in the Student Union?
At the beginning of each semester, the Student Union recruits & hires student workers on an as-needed basis. Positions are posted through Handshake and Workday and we continually accept applications, though, so if you're interested in a position with the Union, please contact the Building Coordinator. 
How do I use the wireless network when I'm in the Union?
You'll log in with your FAUnet login ID and password. The entire Union is a wireless zone.
